All About Jules

I wasn’t sure what to blog about, but since this is my first time blogging for Samhain, I decided to tell you about myself.

WARNING This could get boring:)

Still reading? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I’ve been writing for about four years and became published in the last year. I LOVE to write, I love to read. Some call me a nerd and if escaping to another world for entertainment makes me a nerd, well bring on the thick glasses and acne cleanser;)

I married my high school sweetheart eight years ago and we have a toddler and another baby on the way. I have a salon and I’m always talking to the people in my head…can we say BUSY?

Seriously, I love my life and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Okay, maybe at this point in the pregnancy, I’d change for a body with a waistline:)

The first time I was pregnant I wrote like a mad woman for fear once the baby came my writing life would come to an abrupt end. In that nine months, I whipped out four books. I’m not so anal with this pregnancy. I know I will continue to write even after baby #2 comes because it’s just who I am.

Middle of the night feedings don’t even bother me. All I do is curl up with a book light and a good book and let the baby eat.

As you can see, books rule my life (sshh, don’t tell my 2 year old:).

So, are you all as obsessed as I am with the fictitious world? I hope so or I’m going to be out of work:)

Who are some of your favorite authors? Do you re-read books because you feel like you’ve made friends with the characters? I do:)

    Hey, Jules –

One mom to another, I can completely relate to that explosion of creativity during pregnancy. I didn’t have it so much with my first baby because I was still working an office job full-time, but when I got pregnant with my second, suddenly I had the energy to try all sorts of new things. It felt almost magical.

I do have friends in books … And yes, I talk to people in my head, too… glad to know it’s not just me. ;-)

I can completely relate to making friends with the characters in books you read. As I read, I really feel like I get to know them like they were real. I’m even sad when I finish a book sometimes because it feels like I’m saying goodbye to them. But I know I can always re-read if I want to visit. :)

  3. As a kid, if I didn’t have a book I’d read the cornflakes box at breakfast. I grew up in Canada, and learned a lot of French words that way, because the boxes are writen in both languages. Right now I’m rereading the J.D.Robb series. I love Eve and Roarke!

  4. That wasn’t boring at all. I think you made a lot of points that we can all relate to!

    Welcome to the weblog.

  5. Hey Jules…........congrats on the blog site! It is in the simplest of things that we all connect…......I loved reading how you curl up with a book at the late night baby feedings….......God Bless!

  6. Hi Jules… I’m two weeks away from giving birth to my second child (with a very demanding three and a half year old already ruling the house) so your blog really struck chord with me. I’ve been worried about my writing but you’ve helped me stress less. Thank you…. and now I’m off to buy a book light! grin

Fav characters… I fell in love with Roland of Gilead, the last Gunslinger in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series the moment I ‘met’ him, and Yossarian in Catch-22 has a very special place in my heart. I seem to have a thing for tortured, tormented anti-heroes.

  7. Hey Jules
Seems I can relate to your life story pretty well. Except when I was pregnant, I didn’t write any faster. Lucky you!

Hmm, my favourite characters…Diana Gabaldon’s Jamie Frasier, and Karen Marie Moning’s Drustan and Dageus Mackelter.

    Jess
