Four Extra Hours A Day
I love December! I know, I know. In this hemisphere, the days are short, the weather is changeable and cold, the traffic is crazy, and everyone is in a hurry. I don’t care. I still like it. Without cold weather and short days, hot chocolate by the fire (or a couple of candles) just isn’t the same.
One of the things I like to do best in December is write (which shouldn’t be very surprising since I’m a writer). There’s just something about curling up on a cold night and working on a tension-filled romance that makes my little heart sing.
Unfortunately, December is also the hardest time of year for me to squeeze in much pleasure writing. There’s so much going on, so many things that need to get done, it can be hard enough just finding a chunk of time to write what I need to write, nonetheless finding a few hours to thoroughly wallow in the process.
So this year I’ve decided to ask Santa for a very particular present (what, you don’t still believe in Santa?). I want an extra four hours a day. Time separate from the flow of my regular twenty-four hours. I’m thinking something like the time warp that Santa has to use with his sleigh would probably work. Maybe wrap the additional time around a comfy chair where I can sit while the rest of the world freezes and waits for my extra hours to finish.
Four hours when I can curl up with my laptop and my hot chocolate and loose myself in my latest WIP without everyday things intruding. No phone calls, no day job, no family and friend obligations, no promotional work, no laundry or dishes. Just four unadultered hours of writing.
To be honest, I might nap during an hour of that four, but mostly I’ll write. Then I’ll return to the mayhem of December with a settled soul and enjoy my favorite month.
Here’s to a few extra hours a day for us all!
Happy Holidays!

Oh, that sounds like heaven! Hope Santa is good to you!
Thanks, Jennah! It would be a lovely present, wouldn’t it? :)
