New Release: In a Heartbeat by Donna Richards

Hi all –

I’m excited to tell you about my new Samhain release, IN A HEARTBEAT. You might know me as a writer of Historical romances, but you may not realize that I originally wrote romantic suspense. IN A HEARTBEAT is one of my favorites – especially the hot love scene.

Writers are advised to write what they know. As a CPA, I know a bit about fraud, and as a woman, I know about falling in love, especially when it’s not on the agenda. IN A HEARTBEAT combines all of those elements.

The idea for the story came from a talk show. A cardiologist told about how a heart transplant recipient sometimes has the memories of the heart donor. That sounded intriguing to my writer’s mind and I started wondering…what if…

A murderer, convinced he’d committed the perfect crime, is led to believe that hearts can hold memories, and transplanted hearts can give voice to the dead. Now he must track down and eliminate the recipient of his victim’s heart to ensure her past memories don’t affect his future.

Heart transplant recipient Angela Blake has a shot at a promotion that will allow independence from her loving, but over-protective family. Her audit of Hayden Industries should prove her abilities, but the demanding new CFO criticizes her every move, and some suspicious transactions suggest something shady is going on. Add to the mix a series of suspicious accidents and she wonders if she’ll live long enough to see a promotion.

Hank Renard must reverse the flow of red ink at Hayden Industries to save his parents from financial ruin. However, a clumsy auditor with the face of an angel distracts him at every turn, both in the company, and in the small town, especially when it becomes obvious – someone wants her dead.

Can Angela stand on her own two feet when a sexy new client puts her job, her heart, and her life in peril?
