How do I love books?
Posted by Mallery Malone, 06/24/08 07:55 PM
Let me count the ways.
- Movie ticket (because I’d have to get up at 7 AM to catch a “matinee”): $10
- Popcorn (with butter halfway through and on the top, doncha know) and a Diet Coke (natch): $11.75
- Realizing that you just spent 20 bucks and two hours of your life wanting to stab your eyes out over the sorriest excuse for “entertainment” you’ve ever seen and wishing you’d bought a book instead: priceless
This is why I love books, ebooks especially. You can get so much bang for your buck (new release day here at Samhain is the best). Even if the book doesn’t live up to expectations—and I’ve read some over the years that have made me want to dent my walls—it’s still less of a reason to howl than say, going to see Gigli, or buying a Snoop Dogg country album.
Hhm..actually, I heard a snippet of the duet Snoop did with Willie Nelson, called “Medicine.” Somehow I don’t think they were singing about Tylenol.
So what about you? Has there been anything you’ve purchased or experienced that made you mutter, “I shouda bought a book”?

I went to see the movie ‘I Am Legend’ with Will Smith. Not knowing anything about the film before I go is not something I usually do – I’m a research ahed of time kind of person. In this instance a little reasearch would have saved me the trouble. I had no idea the movie was full of mutants and horror style violence. Put me off my $10 popcorn, actually. Waste of time and money – at least you can put a book down if it starts to make you sick. I had to sit through that whole movie with my jacket over my head.
How do I rate this blog?
Priceless.
LOL,
Jess
