Rose Marie Contemplates the Blank Page
In the beginning there is a blank page. It’s such a simple thing, but very empty. It’s daunting. It’s scary.
And here you are, attempting to fill it with an idea that’s been floating around your head. How can you turn this blank page into a book? Is it even possible?
These are the questions I have been asking myself as I begin writing on what I hope will be a new paranormal series. The blank page is scary. I’m hesitant to write anything.
But I know, from experience, that overcoming the blank page can be done. It just takes alot of hard work and patience. A book won’t appear from the page overnight (unless you have the time and can write very fast, and if so, yay for you!), but slowly, bit by bit, it happens.
Right now, though…I’m a bit intimidated as I stare at my computer screen. What if I can’t write? What if the story doesn’t turn out like I want it to? What if I can’t finish it? What if? What if? WHAT IF???
You know what, the blank page isn’t that bad, now that I think of it. It’s clean and fresh. Tabula Rasa. It’s ready for a new beginning. I think I’ll sit down and write, just for a little while…
And what if the what if’s happen? I’ll deal with it as it comes.
Much Love Always,

It’s so daunting I can’t seem to stick with it for more than an hour or so. How do you do it? Do you know everything that’s going to happen before you write it, or are you a pantser?
I have some characters whom I really like; they are interacting and having wonderful scenes in my head. I just can’t figure out what’s going to happen to them, or how to tie the scenes together. I mean, I’ve read plenty of romance books that seemed to be a lot of good scenes sort of strung together, and they sucked.
I don’t want to suck.
I want someone to tell me what my plot is. Then I can write it.
I like to plot things out ahead of time, but there are always things that come to me that I didn’t plan on.
Thanks for the comment.
Yes, I have to agree the blank page is scary. I know I’ve sat down fully intending to start writing something and then I end up just sitting there staring at the page and suddenly nearly an hour has gone by!
As for plotting, I usually have some big idea in my head with some individual scenes worked out, but there is quite a bit that comes to me as I go. Now if I could just get it all finished….
I love the blank page…the beginning…so many possibilities.
I middle scares me. LOL That part where you’re beginning to wonder if you’re going to be able to finish what you started.
