Confessions of a Crier

I admit it, I am a crier. I can cry at the drop of hat at anything and anybody. This holds true for books and movies too. I always have tissues in m purse at the ready. Let me tell you some of the things I let loose the tears on…
Favorite movie to cry to is Steel Magnolias. I think I’ve seen the movie at least a dozen times and yet I still cry. If you haven’t seen it, it’s about the friendship between these southern women and Julia Roberts plays Sally Field’s daughter. I won’t give away the plot, but suffice it to say there’s one scene where Sally Field makes me cry buckets of tears.
Makes me want to pop it in the DVD now. LOL.
Okay, next, I cry when I read a really good romance. One that makes your heart twist in pain right along with the characters. I’ve had to wipe away tears and sob as the emotion leaps off the page into me.
I get very emotional when it comes to kids, too. The strangest things make me cry. One time a few years ago a high school marching band came in to do a pep rally for my company. They looked so amazing, when they marched out, I was completely overwhelmed with emotions and I burst into tears.
Boy did I feel like a dork.
Whenever I hear beautiful music or see one of my son’s concerts, my throat closes up and my eyes prick with tears.
I even get choked up watching made for tv movies.
Gah!
Anyhoo, I’m considering buying stock in Kleenex because believe you me, I am one of their best customers. ;)

Hi Beth! There is a saying that “it takes all types” and the differences in people sure demonstrates that. It takes something severe to make me cry although there have been 2 or 3 movies to do it starting with “Bambi” when I was a child. The last two were “We Were Soldiers” and “Braveheart”. I can’t even stand to watch Braveheart again because it was so heart breakingly sad.
I sure hope you are not going to make me cry with your “Hell for Leather” which I just loaded to my eBookwise for reading this weekend.
sandie
LOL – Sandie, you probably won’t cry reading Hell for Leather, but I did. ;)
I can’t even watch some movies – like We Were Soldiers – they turn me into a puddle. Yep, I’m pitiful.
Oh, my gosh! I’m a crier too! I cry at movies, books, church, at TV commercials, watching my child sleep, etc… (I’m getting more emotional as I get older too)
I think there was a scene in Steel Magnolias were I was crying buckets and snorting with laughter at the same time. Great movie!
Hey Jennifer! I’m so glad to find someone like me. :) I’ll let you know much the stock price is for Kleenex. LOL.
Oh, man, this sounds so familiar. So I’ve decided crying is good for the soul.
I went to see Steel Magnolias at the movies with my best friend. It was a double feature with Beaches – were we suckers for punishment or what? I’ve never cried so much. Then I went to see Titanic and of course was crying when the credits rolled. But I was also busting for the bathroom… all that rushing water and all. When the movie ended I sprinted from the theatre, sobbing, tears streaming down my cheeks as I searched for a bathroom. I got a few looks, let me tell you. People must have thought I took my movies very seriously…
I also cry when people win a lot of money because I’m just so happy for them. Or when anyone does anything nice for someone else. Show me an abandoned puppy and it’s all over. I’m an easy mark too.
Rain ~ I agree – crying is very good for the soul. If I don’t get a good cry in, I’m even more emotional than usual (a heroic feat, let me tell you).
Sami ~ Wow – that was a tear-fest!! Beaches is another one that makes me cry. I swear it’s the way women cleanse their souls and hearts.
