My Life is Chaos
Who has time to take a break these days? I so don’t. Lately my world—which used to be rather orderly—has been scattered and rushed and filled with chaos. It’s to the point where I’m now forgetting things and am forced to write things down. Write things down? I used to tease my mom about having to do that! Boy, things do tend to bite you in the butt, don’t they?
Anyway, finding the time to write has not been easy. If it’s not the phone ringing, family needing something, it’s some chore that needs my attention. Whether online or off. Laundry, dishes, email, groups, errands, kids homework, dinner…there’s always something pulling me out of my zone. I don’t see much of an end either now that school is back in session. Man, I miss summer already!

The truth is, most authors have to squeeze the writing in where we can. And, despite all the distractions, I have managed to keep the muse happy. But when I really need a break from the stress, I watch Psyche. I love that show! Sean and Gus crack me up. No matter how crazy my day has been, I can always count on some bit of silliness from Sean to make me laugh. I’m so addicted to that show. I TiVo the whole season and go back and watch reruns whenever I need a smile. There’s no better stress relief! I’ve always loved sitcoms anyway. Reba, Two and a Half Men, Grounded for Life, they all bring my stress levels down several notches. What would we do without them after a hard day at work?
So, how’s everyone else’s week been going and what do you do to get rid of the stress? I need all the tips I can gather at this point, lol!

I am soooo there too! My life is so hectic that it’s unreal. I have to write things down too or they will likely be forgotten. I love to read and watch tv to de-stress – it’s just that I don’t get to do that much…LOL
Great blog! Everyone can identify with this..
I started maniacally taking down “notes” as my kids got older. Oddly enough, they become even MORE demanding with activities, school and other things. I’m still looking for something to bring down the stress levels. Must try some of these shows. Sometimes just READING helps.
Hi Sophia! I hear you! With my daughter’s band practices I feel like I’m forevery driving back and forth to school. Heck sometimes I feel like I should just sleep there!
Hi Regina! I swear, sticky notes are my bestfriends these days. LOL I’d forget my head if I didn’t have a sticky note remind me. ;)
I put some music (Chariots of Fire or maybe a Josh Groban CD) on… use the headphones to block out everything else. Light a couple tartburners. Close my eyes and veg out for a few minutes—however long I can manage. Just listen to the music.
You’ve hit the nail on the head, here! Where do we find the time to write?! A little tv break does help, or I like to crank up some good ol’ country music…that really seems to take the stress out and get the words flowing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts today.
Anny—oooh, I love your de-stress idea! I really need to try that! Thanks for the idea.
Debra—I’m going to confess something here. One of my favorite feel good singers is Shania Twain. I love her fun, upbeat tunes. She always gets me in a good, energetic mood. :)
I curl up with a book to de-stress. LOL It’s predictable, but it works.
