NaNoWriMo--Torture, Bliss, or a Bit of Both?

If you asked me last year if I would ever do the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenge in November, I would’ve laughed. I would never try to limit myself to writing so many words in a few weeks. Impossible.

Well, I did it this year. Currently, I am on day 26th of the 30 day writing spree, working my way to 50k.

My reasons for doing this are varied:

*I wanted a challenge, to see if I could do it.

*I needed a push, to get me out of my writers block.

*I’m just crazy enough to torture myself with endless hours of writing.

It’s been an arduous journey. Each day becomes more and more of a struggle to get those words out and meet that daily word count. I’ve been behind too many times to even think of. Will I reach 50k, or will I fall desperately short?

In a few days, I’ll find out when I tally my final word count. Win or lose, I did my best and I think I’m a better person for it. If it gets me out of my slump, then it’s been worthwhile.

Torture or Bliss? I’d say it’s a bit of both worlds.

Join me at my Yahoo group on November 30th for an all day chat about writing and NaNo. Stop by and share your word counts as we all reach for that final 50k.

Much Love Always,

I reached my 50 K last night, but still have more book to write. I did it because I wanted to try a new genre, and if it hadn’t worked out, I only lost a month. I really loved my book, though. It made Nano fun!
