Catching up to my life
I moved a couple of weeks ago into a quiet condo community. It’s not a high rise type you find in the big cities, or even the ones that are resort-like. Many of my neighbors are elder and I’ve never seen so many small lap dogs in one area. My little piece of home is two bedrooms, two baths with a view of the small man-made lake with a waterfall. The windows in my bedrooms face the water and every morning I open my shades and leave them that way all day long, whether I am around or not.
For a while, it’s been going slow with my writing. The voices in my head strangely quiet. No, I’m not dealing with some psychological problems or on meds. It’s the characters speaking to me, telling the writer what is coming up next. When the hero or heroine share their journey and I stop reading and watching TV to write it all down, that’s magic to me. Apparently, they got my change of address, because the itch to stop unpacking boxes and write started almost immediately.
I shoved all the unpacked boxes and barrels to the sides of the garage to make room for my car. The neighbors own vehicles with the big L(exus) stamped on the back and I feel the need to hide the ford focus in such company. My new couch arrives on Saturday, so I can sit comfortably discussing plot points with major and minor characters I’ve come to enjoy. I hope you will to when they jump from the pages of my next book.
It’s not so much that I’m caught up in the every day things, more like running to catch up to my life. Even in my economy car, some days it’s a sweet ride.

Maybe your characters sense they are in a new playground and that they can now have your attention and fun with you. :)
Congrats!
I can only hope that they don’t eat all the small dogs in the area. Some of them are territorial.
