Drawing Inspiration by Ann Cory
Hubby often asks me what inspired my latest story. Inspiration can be a funny thing, and can be drawn from almost anything. I’m never far from a pen and paper, just in case it strikes.
Full-time Student of my Craft
While writing is my career, I’m also a full-time student of my craft. I learn something new every day. I’ve always had a thirst for knowledge, though I admit it’s more fun to learn things as an adult without the pressure of pop quizzes and semester finals. History didn’t hold the same excitement for me in school as it does now.
I have to be careful to not get too caught up in my research for a book, otherwise I lose writing time. Many of my characters are fortunate enough to travel to exotic locations, so when I look up those places I easily get lost in the culture and beauty of those places.
A Kiss Doesn't Cost A Thing
Who doesn’t love a good kiss? Whether soft and sensual, or body to the wall and animalistic, there’s something to be said about locking lips with someone. In these hard economic times it’s nice to know you can kiss anywhere and it doesn’t cost a thing. You don’t have to go anywhere expensive, either. Steal a kiss out in the rain. Under the moon and stars. As you pass one another in the hallway. Or when you’re all snuggled up together in bed.
The Twelve Days of Christmas with Ann Cory

Werewolves and Shifters and Magic OH MY!
My favorite subject to write about is shape-shifters. Sexy beasts. Nocturnal heroes. Flawed creatures. Humans with an ability to change form and can’t get away from their dark past. New lovers and those who are reunited. Magical Seductions.
Poetry - my food for the soul
With my time so limited, I try to grab little moments of soul food when I can, and for me that is poetry. I’ve always written poetry and had my first poems published in my school’s creative writing journal. At the time I wrote about nature and animals. Then I wrote poems about personal things I was going through and a lot of heartache.
Ten Essentials on my desk or the muse is not amused
1. My cute jar with colored paperclips – an absolute must. I am always printing things out whether it’s affirmations, guidelines, goals, whatnot – and not just any paperclip will do.
Tuning Out
I love my hubby very much. He’s a hard worker and puts up with a lot. Especially when it comes to my unpredictable moods, and my bouts with insomnia. I’d like to think of myself as complex, though I’m sure he has his own word for it.
Baking with Ann Cory - Marionberry Cobbler
Now that the crispness of fall is in the air and the trees are changing their colors, my muse extends herself from writing to baking. While my hubby considers himself a pie man – once I made him my delicious marionberry cobbler – he changed his tune.
12 Tidbits About Ann Cory
Due to a horrible week of allergies that have left me miserable and cranky, I decided to share 12 tidbits about myself rather than leave you with some tirade about weather, plants, or the crazy lives of celebrities.
