Many years ago, I stood on the lawn of a beautiful house located on an isolated mountaintop. Just outside the perimeter of a well-manicured lawn, large trees and wild foliage blocked any view of human civilization. I thought what an amazing place, how the big windows of the home let in the bright sunlight, how the air was fresh and free of city smog, how nice it would be to live there. And then I thought about what the night would be like: dark, isolated, vulnerable. No, I decided. I didn’t want to live there.

Fast forward a decade. A character named Kia Wolfe spoke to me. Filled with courage, strength, and the foolhardiness of youth. Kia loved the mountaintop. Kia wanted to live there. So I let her.

And Shadows of Evil was born.

Shadows is my first published novel, the coming true of a long-held dream. The release of the ebook was an amazing experience, but it was holding the print edition in my hand that had me feeling like a real author. Thank you to everyone at Samhain publishing for making this experience so wonderful. And a huge thank you to the readers. You are the ones for whom we do what we do.

Allow me to share a blurb and excerpt:

Blurb:
For Kia Wolfe, moving to an isolated mountaintop is an act of independence from her demanding family and ex-fiancé. She’s literally dreamed about the regal old house for years, and for the first time in her life she feels at home. She’s here to stay, even though the house’s history of violent deaths is enough to scare off most people.
