To Celebrate the Week
My love affair with the book began at an early age. Growing up, I read voraciously, spending hours in the library digging up treasures like James and the Giant Peach, by Roald Dahl, or A Light in the Attic, by Shel Silverstein. I glommed onto novels like A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
What Hancock Taught Me About Romance Writing
Last week, the hubby and I went to the movies. This is a major accomplishment for us, as we rarely see films in the theater. (Parenthood can do that to a couple.) Even more astonishing, it was the second film this year! (Don’t laugh. It’s a major accomplishment for us.)
We went to see Hancock, and I’m so glad we did.
Guitar Store Parking Lots
If it wasn’t for guitar store parking lots, I would never have finished my last book on time.
Lessons In Trust now available!
It’s here! It’s here!
Can you tell I’m a little excited? :)
Lessons In Trust , the follow-on book to Lessons In Love , is now available at My Bookstore and More. I had a lot of fun writing this book, and I hope you have just as much fun reading it!
Red Carpet Withdrawal
I think the writer’s strike really hit home for me last weekend. Oh, I’ve been following all the developments since the beginning, reading the blogs, tracking the industry news. But it didn’t really impact me until I saw clips from the Golden Globes.
It had been turned into a news conference.
A NEWS CONFERENCE, for heaven’s sake!
Right then I knew it was going to be a long, sad, empty awards season.
Glomming
Yes, it’s true.
I’m a glommer.
Books, movies, songs — you name it, I’ve glommed it.
But I’m still figuring out that fine line between enjoying a piece of entertainment/art, and burning myself out on it.

Lessons In Love

Move over, Mary Poppins! A free-spirited teacher is about to give a buttoned-up royal something he never expected—a lesson in love.
Hungry for adventure and eager to break free of her snobby home town, Brynn Dexter takes a teaching job in a foreign country, sight unseen. But when she arrives, she discovers the Laurivenia Academy doesn’t exist. And neither does the teaching job.
Alex du Charbonneaux, crown prince of Laurivenia, is tired of intense media scrutiny, and wary of social-climbing women who stoop to feigning interest in his vulnerable five-year-old daughter in order to get close to him. So if he fudged the details of the “teaching job” to protect his child—and his privacy—who can blame him?
His careful plans begin to unravel the moment Brynn appears on his doorstep. She is beautiful and free spirited, nothing like the dowdy, obedient nanny he ordered.
While being a nanny to a princess is a far cry from the teaching position Brynn expected, she quickly realizes the child is in dire need of a little fun in her life—as is her stuffed-shirt father. As she sets out to teach both of them how to live a little, sparks fly and unexpected passion burns between her and Alex.
But Alex’s deep-rooted suspicions linger, and Brynn struggles with the feeling that she is not good enough for him. So when the paparazzi discover their affair, all bets are off.
Can the prince and the nanny find common ground—and learn to trust in love?
Tease Me, Please Me available now!

Three good girls. Three bad boys. So many reasons to take it all off!
Friday was a very good day.
I got home from work to find a box on the front porch.
Boxes, in general, are fun to find. But this one was even better. My author copies were inside.
Details, Details
I was chatting with a friend the other day about the new Pride and Prejudice movie. I’d finally broken down and watched it, and actually enjoyed it. (Note: I’m a huge Colin Firth/BBC miniseries fanatic, so I had to work past that bias first.)
She said that the scene near the end, where Mr. Darcy’s walking across the moor with his coat billowing behind him, always gets to her. It’s the most romantic scene in the movie, she said.
I had to disagree.
