Judgment At John's Hollow

Posted by Lionel Lavergne, 08/23/08 01:16 PM

I received my copies of my new novel. This is my fourth printed book and I must say, the best. The quality displayed by Samhain is unparalleled. Thank you. Please check out the novel. I believe it has everything anyone would enjoy. Romance, love, hate, suspense, you name it, it’s in there.
Thank you Samhain and all of your wonderful employees that made this possible.

I have few “pet” peeves. I really don’t want to retain something that irritates me. TV commercials are probably my number one. You ask why? Well you didn’t but I’ll tell you anyway. Ad agencies make millions and pay writers thousands to write the dialogue and come up with ideas we are forced to watch in order to see a favorite show. Some of them are very bad and I know I could do better, couldn’t you? I’m not going to make a list of all of them but I will refer to one,
The little green English-accented Gecko for Geico. For some reason he rubs me the wrong way. I am an animal lover extraordinaire, not like PETA but I love all living things. So when I say that I desire to press my number nine shoe to his green slimy head, please don’t assume I hate animals. Just him. I am now the proud payer for a satellite system that furnishes TIVO. Gleefully I race through the ads, especially the one with the lizard. Sometimes this is a mistake because I also rush through the opening and closing segments of the shows. For months I failed to hear the beautifully haunting sound of, Explosion In The Skies’, melody, “Think of me as a time of day.” This can be found at the opening of Friday Nights Lights.
The group is from Austin, Texas.
I see I failed to stick to one subject, well, it all concerns TV, so I suppose I’m okay.

The Dreaded Doldrums

Posted by Lionel Lavergne, 11/28/07 02:00 PM

For several days I felt tired and unable to write. I mentioned this condition to my wife and she said perhaps I was feeling “down in the doldrums.” I had heard that phrase before but never really understood exactly what it meant. So I set out to learn about the doldrums. The dictionary described this as “a state or period of inactivity, stagnation, or slump.” Having an overactive imagination I felt that there was more to the doldrums than that simple explanation. I began searching.

Looking under my writing table one day I spotted five or six gray jelly-like masses. Getting on my hands and knees I studied the objects. Using a broom handle I poked at the strange looking things and suddenly one of them shifted and to my surprise I saw two beady black eyes and a mouth filled with sharp tiny teeth.

First Blog

Hello fellow authors. My name is Lionel A. LaVergne and my upcoming novel, Judgment at John’s Hollow, is due for publication Oct. 16 2007.
That aside, I want to thank everyone for making me feel welcome. I have read excerpts of your works on the Café and have purchased a novel. All of the writing I have seen is excellent.
This is my first Weblog, I’m hoping I’m doing this correctly.
I have a suggestion to the group one I intend to follow. As I sell a book and have an income I plan on buying at least one novel per year and more if possible from the Samhain collection. This, way I can help support the hardworking authors and Samhain itself. I have four other published novels and this is the classiest publishing company I have worked with. I appreciate all of the help I’ve received, the editing, the suggestions and the support from all of you and the staff.
