Melissa Schroeder
Born to an Air Force family at an Army hospital Melissa has always been a little bit screwy. She was further warped by her years of watching Monty Python and her strange family. Her love of romance novels developed after accidentally picking up a Linda Howard book. After becoming hooked, she read close to 300 novels in one year, deciding that romance was her true calling instead of the literary short stories and suspenses she had been writing. After many attempts, she realized that romantic comedy, or at least romance with a comedic edge, was where she was destined to be. Influences in her writing come from Nora Roberts, Jenny Cruise, Susan Andersen, Amanda Quick, Jayne Anne Krentz, Julia Quinn, Christina Dodd, and Lori Foster. Since her first release in 2004, Melissa has had close to 20 short stories, novellas and novels released with six different publishers in a variety of genres and time periods. Those releases included, The Hired Hand, a 2005 Eppie Finalist for Contemporary Romance and Tempting Prudence, a 2005 CAPA finalist for short erotic romance. Her contemporary, A Little Harmless Sex became an international best seller in June of 2005.
Since she was a military brat, she vowed never to marry military. Alas, fate always has her way with mortals. Her husband is an Air Force major, and together they have their own military brats, two girls, and an adopted dog daughter and they live wherever the military sticks them. Which she is sure, will always involve heat and bugs only seen on the Animal Discovery Channel. In her spare time, she reads, complains about bugs, travels, cooks, reads some more, watches her DVD collections of Arrested Development and Seinfeld, and tries to convince her family that she truly is a delicate genius. She has yet to achieve her last goal.
She has always believed that romance and humor go hand in hand. Love can conquer all and as Mark Twain said, “Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand.” Combining the two, she hopes she gives her readers a thrilling love story, filled with chuckles along the way, and a happily ever after finish.
You can visit her at her website, blog, or myspace page. To keep up with her activities and arrests, she has a monthly newsletter.
Resolution
I tend not to make New Year’s resolutions. I rarely even try to keep them and I was raised an Italian Catholic. We do guilt well and I was sick of irritating myself by feeling guilty. Also, why do you have to wait until then? I mean, what if right now, I see what I need to do. Can’t I have a July resolution? And why can’t it be something like, live life better, or see Paris again? Of course, I am a military brat and wife, so I will admit I need some kind of event, something to keep me on track for goals, so I came up with a new outlook. Follow me after the jump to find out what it is.
Laughter IS the Best Medicine-contest
I like humor. I know, it’s hard to believe that a woman who uses the tagline, erotic romance with a slap and a tickle, likes humor, but I do. It has been something that has comforted me during my life and helped get through some extremely rough times. I used it at every new school I went to during my father’s AF career, and still today, when we get to a new base. I think because of this, I rarely can write without a little humor. Follow me after the jump to read how it helped me personally this year.
Lessons in Seduction--in print!
Officially, Lessons in Seduction comes out the 29th of January, but it is already on Barnes and Noble and Amazon not to mention on many bookstore shelves. Follow me after the jump for an excerpt and the trailer.
The Historical Comeback
Since I first discovered historicals in the late 90’s, I’ve heard they would surely die out soon. That the genre wasn’t going anywhere, and that soon, it would die a slow agonizing death. But, I think all indicators point to a resurrection. The market is always changing, evolving and I think the next big thing is historicals. Follow me after the jump to find out why.
New Print Release: The Accidental Countess
I am so excited that The Accidental Countess is finally going to be back in print. This is one of my favorite books, especially since it was my very first historical. Thanks to a lot of help from my editor Sasha it is now 10K longer with more sensuality and more depth in character development. Follow me after the jump for a blurb and the trailer:)
The Seduction of Widow McEwan
Becka Goings and Beth Williamson honored me by allowing me to write a western for the Leather and Lace Anthology. Beth knew I’d been wanting to write a western and so she gave me the opportunity—plus, this way I couldn’t weasel out if it. Follow me after the jump for an excerpt and the trailer.
An Older Woman. A Younger Man. A love that cannot be denied.

READ A BANNED BOOK! Yeah, I shouted it. Sure, reading a banned book might seem mundane, something that doesn’t seem controversial at all. But it is. By reading a banned book, you are standing up to book burners everywhere. Follow me after the jump to read the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week—which starts today—and a way to win some books:)
A Little Harmless Sex is NOW IN PRINT!
I have been waiting for this for a long time! Anna and Max are finally in print, but it wasn’t an easy road to get there. I had to make the book much longer, deepen the character development and add about 30K to the overall story. I will tell you more after the jump.
Lessons in Seduction
Woo hoo! Book two of the Once Upon an Accident Series is now ready for download. I am so excited and can hardly sit still:) Historicals are my favorite genre to read so the fact that I now have two books out with Samhain in my favorite genre is almost too good to be true! The blurb, excerpt and trailer after the jump.
The Accidental Countess

I am so excited that The Accidental Countess is for sale again! I added a bit more to the plot, making the love scenes a bit hotter, and I think worked the overall mystery a little better. Thanks to the wonderful editing of Sasha, I think it really shines now. And can I say WOW again for the cover. Scott has once again created a masterpiece! This is book one in the Once Upon an Accident Series.
Follow me after the jump for the blurb and excerpt:)
