Cheating In Books?
One of my works-in-progress is a contemporary (one of what I call the Coffee House Books). It’s the first time I’ve written in first person and it really seems to work for me. My heroine has a real mind of her own and she wants the story to go the way SHE wants it to. I’m sure most writers experience this.
Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone
Recently, my local RWA chapter had a “kissing contest”. Okay, it’s not the kind you think. We’re not that sordid. ;) No, our contest was to have members write a kissing scene between two characters. It was successful in that it got several of the members writing and a couple who stepped out of their comfort zone to write in a genre they had never written in before.
Plotting The Michelle Way
Since I started writing, I’ve been a Pantser. That’s someone who “writes by the seat of her pants” if you’re new to the writing-lingo. I never plotted a thing. Ever. It just worked for me that way.
But then one day… Pantsing stopped working for me. I would find myself getting stuck for long periods of time and then just not writing anymore. In fact, I went nearly a year without writing. That’s bad! I was depressed about it, too. I couldn’t figure out why I was so stalled.
Do you NaNo?
Every year when November rolls around, not only are the holiday around the corner but there’s another event that happens – National Novel Writing Month. And every year I think I can do it.
Interview With Dane Fortune
When I first started writing long ago, the story of Dane Fortune and Skye Ransom began as a serial. It was published in a twice-weekly online publication. Back then, a great friend of mine was writing her super-hero saga, MENDING RESOLUTE. We thought it’d be fun to team up and do some cross promotion together. She had a reporter in her serial and I, of course, had Dane. Her character, Simone, interviewed my character. I thought it would be fun to share that with ya’ll today. ;)
A Break In Time Print Release!

The Five Manuscript Update
The last time I blogged here, I talked about setting some goals for this year. My goal for 2008 was to have five completed manuscripts.
Where have all the good times gone?
I can’t believe 2008 is nearly here. It’s amazing how quickly time flies! I look back on 2007 and see all the things I accomplished – and didn’t accomplish (I don’t want to say they were failures since that sounds so negative! haha).
How I Became A Writer
Howdy! First I want to say thanks for giving me the opportunity to blog here today! I’m a very happy Samhain author and happy to be a part of such a wonderful family. I feel fortunate to work with such great people (authors, artists, editors, and everyone else in between!).
