Sydney Somers
A lover of all things romance (the hotter the better) Sydney spends her days tracking down remote controls, watching Sesame Street, changing diapers, feeding her menagerie of animals, and if she’s lucky finding a few spare minutes to commit more passionate tales to paper. Lazy...er...crazy days of summer
The days are longer, there are fewer appointments to be kept, my husband has begun the timely process of working on cleaning out the garage (again) and my boys are spending so much time in their pool that they go to bed looking like prunes. So why is it that with the extra time on my hands I can’t seem to get enough writing done?
Waitin' on a Hero - Now Available!
Some stories come to me slowly, layer by layer, and others come to me all at once,
like the best kind of adrenaline rush. My latest paranormal romance, Waitin’ on a Hero, definitely falls into the latter category. I wish I could say getting to the end was as painless as how quickly the plot unfolded in my mind, which is rarely the case. But I couldn’t be more thrilled with the final result and I hope you enjoy the excerpt after the jump!
Deadlines and Belly Badges
Deadlines have a habit of sneaking up on you. One minute you’ve got weeks to get that work in progress finished, and the next you’re wondering if your family will notice if you pack up and move to a cabin in the mountains for as long as it takes to finish your book. Part of me longs for my pre-published days when deadlines weren’t even on the horizon, let alone part of my writing vocabulary. Of course, after spending six months rewriting the first three chapters of my first book, having a deadline might not have been such a bad thing.
Stripped Away - Now Available
I’ve been looking forward to this release for a long time.
When I wrote the first book in this series, Unbreakable, I knew Quinn and Braxton were going to be nothing short of combustible as a couple, and writing their story was a hell of a ride. No matter how much I plotted, it was impossible to anticipate the curves these two incredibly headstrong characters would throw at me.
The Lure of a Good Book
I’ll do just about anything for it. Ignore housework, bribe the kids with television, put off the next load of laundry (or five), order take-out instead of cook, go to bed way too late, and in some cases, let my writing go untouched as I immerse myself in a riveting story weaved by a fantastic storyteller.
Blame it on She-Ra
…my preoccupation with kickass heroines that is. While I do have
vague memories of clomping around the house wearing my favorite red rubber boots with my trusty skipping rope at my waist as I pretended to be Wonder Woman (all the while whining to my mother about needing the very important tiara) She-Ra was the first kickass heroine to really make an impression. She had a secret identity, a standing repertoire of snappy one-liners, a flying horse and a one pretty cool sword. What wasn’t there to love?
Have you been Spellbound?
DON’T LET GO is Now Available!
Sleeping with the enemy was never so magical.
Private investigator Finn Calder would sooner take a Lancaster witch out to dinner than work another cheating spouse case. Considering the long standing feud between their two families, that’s saying a lot. But when gorgeous Bree Jacobs works her way into the middle of his case with one memorable lap dance, Finn starts to think things are finally looking up.
The last man Bree Lancaster Jacobs expected to be attracted to was a cocky P.I. with his share of family secrets. Not even an age-old rivalry can stop her heart from pounding whenever Finn gets too close. As they work to solve a murder they both have a vested interest in, Bree knows she’s in real danger of losing her heart to a man who could never love her.

I've got a secret
Okay, maybe it’s not a big secret, like I killed my identical twin and took over her life secret, and it’s probably more of an obsession really now that I think about it. My husband thinks I have an obsessive personality by nature. One look around my house would disabuse anyone of that notion pretty quick I’d think. But when I’m not obsessing about the book I’m working on, reviews, promoting, uncooperative characters, the plothole my editor has pointed out, raising two boys without screwing them up too badly and paying attention to my husband, I’m obsessing about how to not obsess about all of the above.
My Life as a Romance Author
The holidays are winding down and it’s time to settle back into that glorious thing called routine. I’m one of those obsessive/compulsive people always looking for a way to be more efficient and productive. Of course I have a wee problem with commitment and do well with trying those organizing tips for a few days, a week max, then it’s back to the usual way of things. All the running around at Christmas got me thinking that although my typical day doesn’t run as smooth as I’d like, it works for me and my family.
