Getting down and dirty
I’m not a procrastinator by nature. Usually, if I want something, I get on with the getting of it. But there is one area of my life that’s guaranteed to send me scuttling to find a drain to unblock or a window to clean.
Surprisingly, it’s not writing that has me blocked (although, hand on heart, that has been known to happen), nor is it a task that I hate, but it is something that seems to loom larger and less achievable every time I look out my kitchen window.
His Convenient Affair now available in print!
His Convenient Affair, my first Samhain contemporary romance, releases in print on Tuesday. I really love Nathan and Chloe’s story, so it’s a great feeling to hold the actual book in my hot little hands.
Here’s a little bit about the story and a short excerpt:
The only way Chloe can afford to expand her business is to sell her cherished cottage to a development company. Trouble is, the company’s CEO has an uncanny knack for getting under her skin … plus he seems to think she’s included in the deal.
Into the fray...
Earlier this week I stepped out of my comfort zone and I’m only just recovering. Put me in a room with twenty adult learners and all is well, but when a colleague asked me to stand in for her this week, and I stepped into a classroom to find the same number of children eyeing me with wicked curiosity, I admit I crumpled.
Satin Lies releases today!
Her lies may be satin, but his revenge is pure steel.
Satin Lies, my latest contemporary romance, releases today! The setting is romantic Tuscany where a hot Italian alpha hero plots his revenge on a former lover who is suffering from temporary amnesia. Enrico and Faye have a fair bit of sorting out to do before they get their HEA.
Here’s an excerpt:
It must be love
Today is my wedding anniversary. Hubby gave me a card and flowers, but I have to wait until Friday to get my extra special present. Okay, so it’s not diamonds or a weekend in Paris, but my man is going above and beyond the call of duty on this one.
Fear of the (un)blank page
I’ve got a problem. Nothing earth-shattering or madly exciting, but one that rears up from time to time and makes my palms run clammy and my throat seize up. Sort of like the heroine in my current WIP who is trying to pluck up enough courage to tell the hero she loves him (except my problem is nothing like as interesting as that).
Romance where you least expect it
With that day fast approaching, I intended to blog about romantic movies. While I’ve been married for, ahem, quite a few years now, I still like to do something Valentiney. When it falls on a weekday that usually means something home-based, as hubby and I work long hours and don’t always feel like going out again. So we do the candlelight dinner scene, and I get flowers from him, but hubs draws the line at a slushy (as he calls them) movie.
An unexpected heroine
There I was, happily procrastinating and skipping through TV channels last Saturday morning during breakfast (hubby was out and I had the whole day to write – hee, hee) when I caught the last thirty minutes of a diet/fitness show. It focused on one woman’s journey. She was young, happily married but had some pretty tough emotional baggage which had turned her into a comfort eater. Well, I can comfort-eat with the best of them and have the padding to prove it, but shows like this one usually find me flicking away the guilt and heading off to something less challenging like Diagnosis Murder or re-runs of The Golden Girls.
An ounce of practice...
… is worth a ton of theory. That’s one of my favourite quotes and it hangs above my computer in big, bold lettering, reminding me to temper my thirst for knowledge with practical application. See, I’m a knowledge junkie, a course groupie, a perennial learner (a title bestowed on me by a beloved teacher many years ago). I’ve always been pretty happy with the situation, but there is a downside – especially for those of us who don’t seem to know when enough is enough, or when it’s time to put all that theory and knowledge we gather into practice.
His Convenient Affair is out!
Is Chloe willing to make a deal—for her land, and her heart?
Nathan Fitzgerald is willing to do whatever it takes to restore his company’s reputation. At the top of his to-do list is to acquire the site earmarked for a luxury marina hotel—a site currently owned by the beautiful, stubborn Chloe Greenwood. He’s sure that with a few pretty words and seductive look or two, the property will be his.
Oh, yeah?
I really love seeing those arrogant alpha males brought to their knees by equally strong women, then watching as they twist themselves in knots trying to get what they think they want.
Thanks to everyone involved in bringing His Convenient Affair to publication, with a special thank you to Carrie for her help, support and that amazing ‘editor eye’.
