By The Book by N.J. Walters--Now in PRINT!

Posted by NJ Walters, 09/20/09 09:49 AM

I’m pleased to announce that By The Book, book 6 of the Jamesville series, is now available in print!

BLURB:

Amanda Barrington hopes Jamesville is the right place for her rare-book business—and her new life. The moving truck barely pulls away before both are off to a rousing start. It’s not her new customer that’s caught her attention, though. It’s the customer’s brother, Jonah Sutter.

From the moment cynical, ex-military Jonah sets eyes on Amanda, he wants her like a house afire—which is what she’s going to have if she doesn’t get house’s electrical system overhauled. He knows he’s not a forever kind of guy, but he’s more than willing to be her fix-it man. In more ways than one.

The sparks that fly between them have nothing to do with faulty wiring. And when unexpected danger threatens, Jonah finds himself dealing with more than just the desire to get Amanda into bed.

Protecting her means moving in, which exposes them both to a new danger—losing their hearts.

Books 5 and 7—A Legal Affair and Past Promises—will be released in a two-book anthology (Jamesville Affairs) early in 2010. Books 1-4 are available in print.

N.J. has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.

Cabin Fever: Now Available!

Posted by Alisha Rai, 09/15/09 12:03 PM

I could barely sleep last night, I was so very excited about today. Glutton for Pleasure was my first published book, but Cabin Fever was the first book I believed in enough to get serious about my writing. Over three years, it’s gone through more than a couple of overhauls in plot, length, names, and settings. One thing that has never changed, for me at least, is the essence of the main characters. I loved this hero and heroine so much, I just couldn’t ignore them or deny them their hard won happily ever after.

I sincerely hope you enjoy Genevieve and Alex’s story.

Posted by Mary Eason, 09/05/09 09:00 AM

Worth Staying For - Available now at Linden Bay Romance

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to simply start over? Become someone new. No doubt, everyone at one time or another has speculated. But what if your life depended on it? Would you be willing to leave everything behind in order to survive?
Well, that’s the subject of my upcoming, July 14th release from Linden Bay Romance , entitled Worth Staying For.
For Doctor Jordan Scott, the most dangerous place to be in love.
Dr. Jordan Scott thought she knew her fiancé, Caesar, better than anyone…until Detective Riley Donovan confronts her with the truth about her brother’s death. His murder was no random act of violence—and Caesar is the prime suspect, which puts her directly in the path of danger. Their relationship may be strained, but Jordan can’t believe Caesar lied when he claimed he’d severed all ties with his drug cartel family.Riley has seen enough to know that Jordan is telling the truth, despite what his partner believes. Then again, his instincts aren’t exactly on point when it comes to Jordan. He’s already broken two hard-and-fast rules when it comes to witness protection: never get emotionally involved and never fall for your star witness. Now the trick will be to keep her alive long enough to convince her to trust him—and find the truth behind her brother’s murder. Before she becomes the next victim.Warning: Contains a hero to die for, one courageous leading lady, lots of heart-pounding action, and a rollercoaster ride of emotion.

Three's Company in Print!

Posted by Mari Carr, 08/30/09 03:07 PM

Jayne Rylon had a bit of trouble logging in so I’m posting this blog on her behalf.

Three’s Company is a fitting name for my first print book. In addition to being a smoking hot anthology about menage, it’s allowed me to get to know two amazing authors whose books I enjoyed long before we teamed up together. Both Jess and Lorelei have been supportive of me joining them as the newbie to Samhain.

Working with them on this project has been phenomenal so I wanted to shout out a big thank you here. I hope you all enjoy the end result, now available in print!

Three’s Company
by Lorelei James, Jess Dess and Jayne Rylon
ISBN: 978-1605043241
2009 EPPIE Winner for Best Romance Anthology

A Question of Trust by Jess Dee. Gabriel fulfills every one of Madelines sexual fantasies. Until he introduces her to his best friend Connor. Suddenly Maddie’s horizons are expending in a whole new direction that breaks all the rules.

Nice and Naughty by Jayne Rylon. Alexa limits her adrenaline rushes to boardroom negotiations-until she indulges in a high-octane encounter on the hood of her sports car. Justin is supposed to be just a refreshing summer affair, but he’s called for the kind of backup that shifts the odds in love’s favor.

Wicked Garden by Lorelei James. Billy ran out on Eden the night of prom. Now he’s back and she’s hoping a fling will finally untangle him from her past. She hadn’t counted on his wicked side-or the return of old lover Jonto appeal so strongly to her dark, hidden desires.

Me and My Palm TX Making Friends

Posted by Bonnie Dee, 08/28/09 06:00 AM

Well, I finally did it. After a ridiculously long time, I broke down and bought an e-reader. Not a dedicated reader but a Palm TX so it has multiple functions. When the new toy arrived a couple of days ago I was very uncertain if we were going to get along together. The screen was smaller than I’d imagined it would be and the process of learning how to sync it with my desktop was a little daunting. But here we are a couple of days later, my Palm and me, making friends.

I read a book on it last night and found that only having about half a page on the screen at a time actually makes it easier to focus for me. Plus a backlit page is far easier on my eyes than print on paper. I’m very excited to be able to read without sitting at my computer, where, let’s face it, I spend enough hours every day.
Yes, I think I’m going to keep her.

What kind of reader do you use? What are the pros and cons of the one you use? What advice can you give someone who may be trying to decide which e-reader or other device to buy? And can anyone tell me why I’m having trouble syncing an Adobe reader program and having it show up on my Palm?

Surviving the End of the World

Posted by Loribelle Hunt, 08/26/09 05:00 AM

I’m not a big fan of reality tv, but I’ll admit I’m hooked on the Discovery channel’s The Colony. It’s about a group of ten people trying to survive a catastrophic event.

DUALITY by Renee Wildes IN PRINT!

Posted by Renee Wildes, 08/23/09 08:00 AM

I’ve always believed in fairytales and HEAs, so I’m pleased to introduce my own version of Cinderella. Dara’s a half dragon fire mage, public healer and secret warrior, who’s trying to oust a demon-possessed despot from her land. But even dragons need help with demons. Enter elven warrior-prince Loren and his war mare Hani’ena, who decides to help whether Dara wants it or not. Falling in love really can mess up the best-laid war plans…

ReneeW

BLURB:
Dara Khan Androcles is really in over her head this time. From childhood she’s been forced to hide her half-dragon mage fighting skills behind a public persona as a healer. Now, with a traitor and his demon threatening the throne of Safehold, Dara has no choice but to turn reluctant warrior—and seek help.

She strikes a bargain with runaway Elven prince Loren ta Cedric and his sentient, pain-in-the-butt war mare, Hani’ena. Loren’s not only too handsome for Dara’s own good, the powerful empath can see right through to the pain that drives her.

Loren can’t help but feel Dara’s every hurt, physical and emotional. Though his need for her drives him half mad, he must stay his course to see justice done for his people. Even if it means swearing a Life Debt to the distracting mortal.

That vow, made in the heat of their parallel quests, carries more power than either of them guessed. The power to bond the unlikely pair as Life Mates. The power to lay bare the fears and desires that could bind them to a single purpose—or tear them apart.

All the while a demon awaits, ready to destroy all that they hold dear.

Warning: Contains patricide; noble self-sacrifice; one bad-ass, demon-possessed despot; a bad-tempered dragon; and a water mage who likes to “rain” on her husband’s parade—literally. Downside: A quest for a magic book (written in blood) that nobody wants, and a talking war mare with the warm, fuzzy voice of Judy Densch. Upside: Serious ass-kicking. Be prepared to learn to curse, cry and laugh—in Elvish.

An Inner Darkness

Posted by Ally Blue, 08/23/09 06:00 AM

An Inner Darkness An Inner Darkness, book five in my Bay City Paranormal Investigations series, is now available in print. Yay! Read on for the blurb plus links to clean and not-at-all-clean excerpts :D

All hell’s about to break loose. Literally.

After more than a year as a couple—and plenty of bumps along the road—Sam Raintree and Dr. Bo Broussard are finally settling into life together. Bo has come to terms with his sexuality, their business is thriving, and Sam has begun to accept his role as a step-parent of sorts to Bo’s sons, Sean and Adrian. The only real dark spot is Bo’s ex-wife, Janine.

When eleven-year-old Adrian begins exhibiting signs of psychokinesis—the same ability which allows Sam to manipulate interdimensional portals—the friction between Sam, Bo and Janine escalates. Sam and Bo have reason to believe Adrian’s raw, uncontrolled talent poses a danger to him and those around him. Janine, however, believes Sam and Bo are encouraging dangerous delusions on Adrian’s part. Common ground is nonexistent, anger and hard words ever-present.

Caught in the middle of the conflict and burdened with an ability he can’t yet control, Adrian is soon pushed beyond his limits. With Adrian’s mind—and the lives of everyone around him—hanging in the balance, Sam and Bo race against time to save both boys and keep an otherworldly horror from breaking free.

(Warning: This book contains graphic language, explicit male/male sex, family drama and scary monsters.)

You can read a spooky PG-13 excerpt on the Samhain website..

Or, you can hop on over to my website and read an XXX-cerpt of mansex and angst,, oh yeah.

Or, hey, why not read both? Spookiness, sexiness and angst all in one morning, what a great idea!

And after you’ve read the awesome excerpts, go to the Samhain website to buy the book :)

My Strange Path to Writing

Posted by Bianca D'Arc, 08/19/09 09:01 AM

I started reading ebooks back in 2005 or so because I could find the kinds of stories I wanted in much larger quantity in ebooks than in the bookstore. I still remember combing the spines (back when I didn’t know how else to find certain sub-genres) for logos that might indicate the book was a futuristic or sci fi romance. I would spend hours in the bookstore, reading every blurb and examining every cover, looking for some hint that the book might contain elements I’d like. Then I discovered ebooks. Sci fi & futuristic romance abounded, as did paranormals that were edgier and more creative. I was hooked. Then I tried my hand at writing the kinds of stories I liked to read and the rest, as they say, is history.

Let's Have Fun with Titles

Posted by Margo Lukas, 08/07/09 03:03 AM

Thinking of titles for a work in progress can be fun or frustrating, depending on your mood. Fun because thinking of a title is a form of wordplay and I’m pretty sure most authors enjoy wordplay. It’s frustrating because so much can ride on that title. Along with the cover it is what gives a potential reader their first impression of your book.

So…today I’m going to play a little game with several Samhain books. Picking a new release and several genre novels, I’m going to write what I think the book is about according to its title. I’m holding a paper over the cover image (Those covers are just too damn good). Then I’m going to look at the summary and see what these authors have really written about
