Being a spinster was much easier than becoming the accidental countess and it definitely didn’t prepare her for falling in love.
Book One in the Once Upon an Accident series.
Colleen MacGregor doesn’t like rich men, especially rich titled men. Still, her guilt won’t allow her to leave Sebastian passed out in the snow. Before he can leave, they are caught in a compromising situation. Under an agreement he will leave and never bother her again, Colleen marries a man she barely knows to save her reputation. Before she can really stop anything, she is whisked to London, where she is transformed into an Original and captures the attention of the ton—not to mention her husband.
Sebastian Ware thinks he’ll never see the sharp-tongued spinster again. He never planned on becoming the next Earl of Penwyth…or on falling in love. But before he can declare his feelings, he must protect her from an enemy who wants them both dead. Racing against the clock, Sebastian strives to save them both so he can turn their accidental love into a love for eternity.
This book was previously published, but has been substantially revised and re-edited for Samhain Publishing.
Warning this title contains the following: somewhat explicit love scenes, drunken earls, irritating relatives and bathing activities that leave the floor wet and the hero and heroine exhausted.

Hats off to Melissa Schroeder for one of the most amazing books that I’ve ever read. It was full of enough suspense, romance and humor to set the book writing industry on its ears… I gladly give this book a 5 angel and Recommended Read review.
The emotional connection between Sebastian and Colleen is so richly woven that the readers find themselves enthralled waiting for them to have the happy ending they so deserve. Melissa Schroeder is always on my “must be read list” and The Accidental Countess is a perfect example why!
It was an amusing tale of two people and how they muddled through figuring out that what they really wanted was each other. I loved this book, and had a great time reading it.
If THE ACCIDENTAL COUNTESS is the beginning of a new series, then color me ecstatic to be in on the ground floor… Melissa Schroeder has now been added to my list of favorites, and I’m heartily glad to recommend her newest, THE ACCIDENTAL COUNTESS. Man, can that girl write!
5 Blue Ribbons!
The slow glide into love is a beautiful thing to behold between Colleen and Sebastian, romantic and emotional in its intensity. There is no doubt that these two compelling characters are meant to be together. The love scenes are explosive, yet romantic in every way. The element of danger that is introduced kept this reader guessing until the dramatic climax. These are realistic characters that I will revisit again and again. Melissa Schroeder has found a place on my auto-buy list with THE ACCIDENTAL COUNTESS. I cannot recommend this one enough if you love a great love story.
