Now Open to General Submissions

General Submissions

Samhain Publishing is now open to general submissions of all genres of romance and erotica, as well as fantasy, urban fantasy and science fiction with strong romantic elements. We are refocusing our efforts and will no longer be accepting submissions in other genres for the time being.

All submissions must be new material to be considered for publication, no reprints. Once you’ve had a new work accepted by Samhain, you are free to submit previously published works to your editor for consideration.

Only one manuscript at a time per author please! And, if the manuscript is being offered elsewhere simultaneously, please keep us informed of its status.

We encourage you to let your muse have its way and to create tales that don’t always adhere to current trends. One never knows what the next “hot genre” will be or when it will start, so write what’s in your soul. These are the books that, whether the story is based on “formula” or is an “original”, when written from the heart will earn you a life-time readership.

The preferred word count is 60,000 or longer, but we are quite happy to publish shorter works with word counts of no less than 12,000.

Any book that glorifies depraved or illegal acts will not be considered. No pedophilia, bestiality, racial intolerance, rape as titillation, necrophilia – no ick factors, please!

For more information on Samhain and how to submit your book, follow the links!

Consider joining us! Samhain Publishing, Ltd. an author-friendly publishing house whose fundamental belief is that the world is a better place when there are good books to read.

Thank you!

Call for submissions: Samhain Publishing Tickle My Fantasy Anthology

Demons, vamps, werewolves, ghosties, ghoulies and things that go bump in the night. We love to love them, but can they make us laugh, too?

I’m very pleased to announce an open call for submissions for a new anthology. I’m looking for contemporary paranormal romances with a strong humorous voice. I’m open to any paranormal creature, but it has to be funny, and it has to be romantic.

The anthology will include novellas from 18,000 to 20,000 words in length and will be released individually as ebooks in February 2009 and packaged for a print release the following year.

Submissions are open to all authors, published with Samhain or aspiring to be published with Samhain. All submissions must be new material, previously published submissions will not be considered. Additionally, manuscripts previously submitted, whether individually or for past anthologies, will not be considered either. Please be aware that manuscripts submitted to this anthology cannot be
resubmitted at a later date unless by invitation from an editor.

To submit, please include the full manuscript of 18,000 to 20,000 words with a detailed 2 – 4 page synopsis as a separate attachment and a cover letter that tells me a bit about you and your background.

Submissions are open until May 31, 2008. The final decision will be made by June 16, 2008. Please send your submission to editor@samhainpublishing.com and include Tickle My Fantasy Anthology in the subject line.

I’m happy to answer questions about this anthology either on the Samhain Author loop, the Samhain Café, on the Romance Divas forum, or by private email.

Call for Submissions: Fall 2008 Menage and More anthology

Two men focused on her pleasure. One night of indulgence with her best friend and her man. Three men…one love. What’s your fantasy? More than any other, we hear from our readers that the ménage and more is the fantasy they most love reading in erotic romance. In Fall 2008, Samhain Publishing will present three red hot ménage and more stories to our readers…your book could be one of them.
This anthology will consist of three novellas to be released individually as eBooks in September 2008 and combined into one print title for 2009 release.

I am open to any romance genre (historical, paranormal, contemporary, etc.) but the stories must involve a ménage (or more). Though the ménage does not need to be the central relationship in the story or end in a HEA for all three, I am looking for romances so there must be a happily ever after for at least two of the characters.

Submissions are open to all authors previously published with Samhain as well as authors aspiring to publish with Samhain. Submissions must be new material—previously published material will not be considered.

Additionally, we will not consider manuscripts previously submitted whether individually or for past anthologies. Please be aware that manuscripts submitted to this anthology cannot be resubmitted at a later date unless by invitation from an editor.

To submit, please include the full manuscript of 24,000–30,000 words with a 2–5 page synopsis. Also include a letter of introduction/query letter if you are an author not previously contracted with Samhain.

Submissions are open until May 15, 2008, and the final decision will be made by June 1, 2008. Submissions should be sent to editor@samhainpublishing.com . Please put Ménage Anthology Submission in the subject line. If you receive an auto response, your submission has been received. Anthologies are special projects exempt to the general closing of submissions.

I’m happy to answer questions about this anthology either on the Samhain Author loop, Samhain Café , on the Romance Divas forum or by private email.
